Repositories for Biospecimens and Specialized Core Services at UCLA

Biological Samples Processing Core – BSPC
The facility offers DNA extractions from whole blood and other tissue types, and storage of extracted DNA

Translational Pathology Core Laboratory | TPCL
The Translational Pathology Core Laboratory (TPCL) is a research facility in the UCLA Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine and a UCLA Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer Center Shared Facility.  Since 1996, the TPCL has provided an array of pathology-related services in support of basic, translational and clinical research at UCLA.

For more information,  please see the Fresh Tissue Request Checklist.

Pathology Research Portal (PRP)

Two previous research laboratories, the Clinical and Translational Research Laboratory (CTRL) and the Clinical Immunology Research Laboratory (CIRL) recently restructured into the Pathology Research Portal (PRP). This new addition functions as the biospecimen liaison between researchers and clinical testing, and provides coordination for sample receiving, accessioning, processing, short term and long term storage, dispatching to multiple core facilities for testing, and result retrieving.

Please review the Drop-off Checklist for Research Samples to be Processed/Accessioned at the PRP.

Immune Assessment Core (IAC)
The Immune Assessment Core (IAC) is a comprehensive source of immunological testing services for basic, clinical, and translational studies

UCLA Pathology & Laboratory Medicine
The UCLA International DNA Exchange provides 6 specimens of purified DNA 6 times each year to participating laboratories to compare results of DNA-based HLA-typing methods

Brain Tissue Translational Resource | BTTR

The Brain Tumor Translational Resource (BTTR) is a biorepository and resource that supports brain tumor research at UCLA, other academic centers, brain tumor consortia, and industry

Clinical Microarray Core | CMC

The UCLA Clinical Microarray Core (CMC) is a CAP-accredited, fully automated, high-throughput genomic facility equipped with all major next generation sequencing and microarray platforms

Immunogenetics (UIC)

The UCLA Immunogenetics Center (UIC) provides comprehensive testing for organ and tissue transplantation

UCLA Pancreas Tissue Bank

Since 2005, the UCLA Pancreas Tissue Bank has accrued a repository of high quality archival pancreas tissues and tumors that are made available to researchers for the purpose of facilitating basic and translational research in pancreatic diseases.

UCLA Brain Tumor Center: Brain Tumor Tissue Repository

The BTTR is an advanced database that we use to track important details about each patient’s tumor tissue, care and treatment.

UCLA Neuroscience Genomics Core (UNGC)

A sequencing, genotyping and gene expression resource for academic labs in the Southern California region and beyond, the UNGC has been created to offer academic researchers the highest quality custom snp genotyping, whole genome genotyping, whole genome gene expression screens and sequencing services at the lowest possible cost.
